THE SURROUNDINGS

Villa Edinoor is located on Parklaan, opposite the “Kom van Biegel”, a beautiful park-like setting with a large pond and a variety of mature trees. The property is situated in the district ‘t Spiegel, one of the oldest villa districts in the Netherlands. In July 2007 the area was designated as a protected heritage village landscape. The district includes 30 national monuments and 26 municipal monuments.

HISTORY

Villa Edinoor is an office villa dating from 1900, designed by architect G.J. Vos. The building was originally named Villa Liane (by the pond). In 1920 it was renamed Villa Edinoor after the sisters Edi and Noor Ploem.

The villa enjoys a beautiful location overlooking the Kom van Biegel and the Biegel Plantsoen. The building originally served as a private residence, later became a hotel/guesthouse until the mid-1960s, and has been used as office space since 1969. The park was historically used for summer evening festivities with decorative lighting and for ice skating during winter.

Architecturally, Villa Edinoor is a brick villa with tower-like side pavilions, loggias, balustrades and Art Nouveau details. It is a fine example of eclectic architecture from around 1900 and has been a listed municipal monument since 2018.
